CONSENT /
AS MATERIAL
Essay 02 / 03On what the photographs rest on

Before any rope, there is a list. What is fine, what is not, what we will find out together. It is the least visible part of the work and the one everything else rests on.
Consent is not a form signed once. It is checked with every wrap: a look, a word, a hand squeezed twice.
“Consent is not signed once. It is checked with every wrap.”
In the photographs it shows as ease. A body that trusts the rope holds itself differently from one that is enduring it.
The images are chosen together afterwards. Nothing leaves the studio without a second yes.
